I think there is a lot of buzz about how the Dean campaign is changing politics in the Democrat party. More inclusion, focusing on the base, nods to progressism, and an emphasis on the grassroots.
I also think that it is becoming more and more obvious that the structure, people and organization style of the existing, entrenched Democrat party is somewhat incompatable with the grassroots, bottom up organizations Dean for America is producing.
I think it is higly unlikely that in most parts of America that the existing structures will absorb the Dean for America grassroots movement after the election.
So the question becomes what happens to the people and structure? Does it
simply fade away? Do people go back to wating till the next election cycle?
Another possibility is for these structues to incorporate into permanent ones that are not based solely on a sigle candidate, but instead on
promoting a broader, progressive leaning D party.
There's a lot of time to think about it.
