I decided to support Dean a few days before Al Gore did, but I haven't been able to contribute before. I missed December Meetup, and I can't afford to contribute to the Bat this month.
But, the LA Times provided me with an opportunity today by publishing a hit piece on Dean's supposed "inconsistencies" regarding Saddam Hussein and the Iraq war.
The article is complete and utter tripe. After trumpting Dean's "contradictions" in the headline, it goes on to quote a bunch of consistent statements, plus one case where he said "I never said Saddam was a danger to the United States," when he ought to have said "imminent danger." The LA Times is usually so much better than this.
So, anyway, I wrote and sent my first-ever letter to the editor! Go, me!
This is something we all need to do, in general, no matter who the nominee is. We can't let the media get by with painting Democrats as inconsistent, unreliable, serial exaggerators. This sort of thing hurt Gore a lot in 2000, and they're getting an early start this time around. This time, we've got to fight.
