PSU College Republicans Chair Brian Battaglia has taken down his website, which hosted photos of a Halloween house party in which a member appeared in 'blackface', mocking a member of the PSU Black Student Union.
This story has hit the national news wires, and the PSU administration is considering demanding PSUCR officer's resignations.
What I find so amusing in all this is how these kids cry out about their First Amendment rights being violated, how they're discriminated against, how they're even assaulted and victimized.
As far as I can tell, no one's forced them to be quiet, but simply pointed out how offensive and stupid their tactics are. In the case of PSU's pending decisions, they may have violated honor codes.
But why bother? Let them hang themselves. From T-shirts featuring a graphic of "a very angry-looking elephant stomping on a hippie" to a ridiculously offensive anti-gay campus flyering campaign, they seem to do very little to advance any intelligent discourse on traditional conservative values.
No wonder they feel marginalized - who wants to be associated with such a juvenile, shrill bunch?
I wonder if the Young Republicans national conference had something to do with the website's "dissapearance"... what an embarassment.
