For those follwing my not-quite daily themes, today's theme:
John Kerry kicked Bushie Tushie in the debate. Obvious, but important. We've got to control the spin. The talking points are below the fold.
These come from the Kerry campaign and we should emphasize them to have a consistent message. Check out
the John Kerry website for fact-check stuff too. Here are some things to emphasize:
- America saw John Kerry as our next President tonight.
- Kerry showed strength, conviction, and a steady command of the facts.
- Kerry left no doubt he can lead the fight to hunt and kill the terrorists.
- Kerry offered hope for a fresh start in Iraq so we can finish the job. Kerry has specific plans: Bush had shallow promises.
Note, the last one there is important. John Kerry has been laying out a
very specific plan since the NYU speech, but talking heads keep saying he hasn't laid out a plan. The GOP will continue to spin that "he doesn't have a plan" or he's "sending mixed messages" or "he can't make up his mind". We know otherwise and we have to get that message out.
Here's mine. Check out my original diary entry for some guidelines. Remember to keep it pithy and original.
Thursday night, George W. Bush made his positions clear. For him, at a time of national emergency and soaring budget deficits, protecting his tax cuts for the rich is more important than protecting America. John Kerry showed that he has the strength to defend America and finish the job in Iraq, but also demonstrated that he has the wisdom Mr. Bush sorely lacks.
