Pre Emption
Kerry further indicated that the war in Iraq would not be the last war of aggression, no matter who won the election in November. Asked his position "on the whole concept of preemptive war," the Democratic candidate responded: "The president always has the right, and always has had the right, for preemptive strike. That was a great doctrine throughout the Cold War... No president, through all of American history, has ever ceded, and nor would I, the right to preempt in any way necessary to protect the United States of America."

Perhaps now is not the time during a heated contest to point out that the IWR is
unconstitutional. Congress can not delegate the power to make war.
As we have seen with Iraq and more glaringly with the entire plan for Central Asia/Middle East, war is a racket. How can one debate Cheney and not point out this obvious fact? How else do you attack Cheney?
Do we really want to kill tens of thousands and litter the land with radioactive material to satiate our thirst for foreign oil? Deeper still what does this plan for control of the entire region mean for other nations like Russia, Japan and China? To understand the motivation to war we must look at Cheney's secretive energy policy.
I sincerely hope Edwards can point this out in his debate.
What they are saying is the President can make war like a dictator and conceal the reasons why behind a web of lies and secrecy by merely uttering the mantra of National Security, Executive Privelege, and of course 9-11. In the same breath Bush says he believes in checks and balances?
Has Democracy been "pre empted?"
Against Iraq means bring them home, more specifically it means making a fundamental and revolutionary change in US energy policy. The money we are wasting on war for oil could be spent forming sustainable ways for people to thrive. What I think we are failing to realize is the bigger picture, how oil backs the dollar. How cooling China's economy means basically leaving people without food and heat and medicine. Food is basically processed petroleum.
The equation is simple, unsustainable means a negative return on investment. In this economic environment war, fraud and debt will always haunt life on this planet.
Do we truly have the "backbone" needed to help each other raise our young and purify the land? Or do we continue to send our sons and daughters to commit genocide for the wealthy few?
