Today President Bush received the formal
endorsement of the former head of the Soviet Union's shadowy KGB, a spy outfit dedicated to the infiltration and destruction of the United States.
"International terrorists have set as their goal inflicting the maximum damage to Bush, to prevent his election to a second term. If they succeed in doing that, they will celebrate a victory over America and over the entire anti-terror coalition," Putin said.
Vladimir Putin, who currently holds the position of president in Russia and has been behind recent reforms aimed at reducing the spread of democracy in that country, made his most explicit comments yet in favor of Bush's re-election at a Central Asian Cooperation Organization summit in Tajikistan Monday.
There was no immediate reaction from the Kerry campaign, but that didn't stop his supporters from responding:
"If we are now at the point where we are allowing the guys that used to spy on us influence our elections, then it's a pretty pathetic day in the history of American politics. What's next, a GOP fundraiser in Beijing hosted by Hu Jintao?"
