I was so pissed off at them. A table of talking sterotypes about how Bush saves their little kids from the roaming terrorist threat in mid-western Wisconson. And Bush's proposed draft is good for their precious tykes, no?
I threw multiple objects at the TV, bellowed loud enough to startle dormmates and ended up stalking over to the TV and turning it off in disgust.
I cannot fathom how absolutely out of touch and idiotic these women are. I dont know I dont understand I cant belive it.
There was one pro-Bush woman who talked about she was voting for Bush because he was a strong leader who didnt change his mind. And yet, when asked about reservations for voting for him, she said if anything it would be because of his staunch refusal to admit to any problems. I dont understand, I really dont.
A "personal accountant" with caked-makeup and a gaudy necklace was talking about the international relations of Iraq an how Iraq was much more "liberated" now than it was in the past. And how these new "killing fields" found each day are proving that Saddam needed to be taken out.
"as opposed to the thousands which are dying in the streets today" I yelled, launching my chopsticks to bounce off the plastic screen.
Maybe I was too harsh: I mean, international relations aren't complex at all. And certainly I, a professional student who studies international relations in washington DC, cannot bring my guns to bear on such a reputable source as a Wisconian bean-counter.
I had to then watch through smeared sweet-and-sour sauce a lady talk about how "Bush supports the troops so we need to vote for him."
The mostly-empty plastic bowl went hurtling to smack against the effegy on the streen while I hurtled choice words and sent evil vibes in the general direction of Wisconson. How the fuck does one say Bush supports troops!?
Another thing which was said was moral character: because Kerry is a "20 year career politician" he is untrustworthy. Yes, so by collary, all citizens: including Enron ECO's., and Bush, are trustworthy?
Flipflop flipflop and flipflop were words everyone across the table nodded on to describe kerry, wether they were for kerry or wether for bush. And Bush never flipflopped on troops for nation building, or homeland security, or 9/11 commission, or reasons for going into the war in Iraq or anything else. Noooooo. Of course not.
And all were worried that Kerry was going to raise taxes. Because lord knows that Bush has done a good fiscal job with the budget. But then again, these are women who shoe-shop so who the hell knows, maybe he makes sense to them.
The triggering to the stomping over to the TV and angrily stabbing my thumb into the on/off button came from this comment:
"I belive that a man and a woman should be married and dont want to be labeled as a gaybasher for my personal belief that marriage should be kept between a mand and a woman. Its my personal belief. Based on my religion."
"No," I fumed, "Wrong again. Its your RELIGION's BELIEF" and not YOURS," and then happily, if not painfully, jabbed the TV- and thus the talking hairdos- off.
