Begala, Lockhart, Mehlman, Rove, Eskew and otheres unknown to me all get hit. It's hilarious. I must say, the dems come through this trial by poop much better than the thugs.
Unrelated: Somehow I got on a wing nut email list and recently received this piece of propaganda:
I'm sending this to my Democratic friends too. I know you don't agree with me, but if you read this, I will read your information to refute any of these statements.
Learn these facts to properly debate our poor misguided friends & family before election time !!!
There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq during the month of January..... In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January. That's just one American city,
about as deadly as the entire war torn country of Iraq.
When some claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war, state the following
FDR... led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.
Truman... finished that war and started one in Korea, North Korea never attacked us.
From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,334 per year.
John F. Kennedy... started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us.
Johnson... turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year.
Clinton... went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent, Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing.
Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.
In the two years since terrorists attacked us President Bush has ... liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.
The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but... It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51 day operation.
We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.
It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina
Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.
It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!
Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB!
The Military morale is high!
The biased media hopes we are too ignorant to realize the facts.
Well, it hacked me off and I responded with this:
Iraq lies in chaos. I saw it firsthand for 6 months. George Bush lied us into this war. He and his cohorts were planning it well before 9/11. They lied about Saddam's nuclear capability to turn our patriotism and our fears into War Fever. Bush knew exactly what he was doing. He lied his ass off. This is all well documented and you can go look it up. I'll send you links to reputable news publications if you wish. Bush should tell us his real motivations for this war someday.
The Duelfert report just came out and George Bush's own handpicked team concluded that Saddam was not a threat, he had nothing, no capabilities at all. Zero. George Tenet, ex-CIA chief, recently said that the war is wrong. In agreement with him are General Zinni, Richard Clarke, Colonel Hackworth, General Hoar, General Clark and many more military people. How many smart, experienced tough old men does it take to break through the denial syndrome? This same group of leaders, and more, warned Bush he would need more troops, more planning, more time and more allies. If Bush had listened, maybe we would have a democracy in Iraq right now, and fewer dead troops. The president of Poland recently said that GWB "took him for a ride" and deceived Poland with bogus WMD claims. Poland is pulling out, so I guess we can forget Poland, huh?
Had GWB let the weapons inspectors finish their work, we might not be fighting in Iraq right now. The chief weapons inspector, Hans Blix, has repeatedly said that Saddam was cooperating with him during the inspection process. If Saddam had kicked out the inspectors, the world would have joined us. At the very least, we might have bought more time to get bulletproof vests to all of our people. Have you ever been near a firefight without a vest? I have. Not a good feeling. Bush handled this war like a teenager driving a Camaro: reckless incompetence and complete disregard for others. Donald Trump would fire George Bush in a New York second.
We did not go to war as a last resort.
Next time there is a real threat, from say, North Korea that demands pre-emptive action, do you really think any of our NATO or UN allies will believe us and follow our lead? Not with GWB leading the charge they won't. Hell no. Liars can't lead. And we used to be the leader of the free world. So where will we get the support we need? Will you go? I already did my bid.
"he liberated two countries." No. He created a failed state, Iraq, which is now a fertile terrorist breeding ground. Under Saddam, Iraq had no substantial connection to terrorists. Saddam was not allied with Al Qaeda. Read the 9/11 report for yourself, don't believe me. But now the terrorists control Iraq, not us. Had Bush listened to his military, we might have had success in Iraq instead of quagmire.
"liberal media is lying about Iraq". I was there and I can assure you that you are not seeing the worst of it. You have been well protected from reality.
We don't control much of Afghanistan either. Why did we not finish the Afghan job? Why did we not capture or kill Bin Laden when we had the chance? Bush went from "dead or alive" to "i just don't think about him that much anymore". That's a hell of a flip-flop. So now Osama is seen as an untouchable, glorious victor through much of the middle east. Great message to send our enemies. Nice going, George.
Bush strengthened Iran by invading Iraq. Iran actively sponsors terrorism (the 9/11 hijackers passed through Iran) and is close to nuclear capability. Iraq used to counterbalance Iran. Now Iran is stronger. Nice going, George.
"we fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here". Do you really think these terrorists don't know how to get here? Do you think that they are now less motivated to strike us here? There are more of them, more motivated than ever to kill us at home. And Bush has done practically nothing to strengthen our borders or ports. It is a question of when, not if.
I'm glad you mentioned Clinton and Kosovo. Clinton successfully deposed the madman who ruled Kosovo without the loss of a single American soldier. And he dragged the republicans along, and they kicked and screamed and pouted every step of the way. I guess if Clinton was named Bush they would have volunteered to go themselves. Clinton was never offered "Osama on a platter" by Sudan. Go read the 9/11 report. It never happened. It's a bald-faced lie that Rush Limbaugh and his cronies like to tell.
Glad you mentioned Vietnam and Korea. Our allies backed us there, every one. But we learned a lesson in Vietnam. Well, some of us did. History always repeats itself, the first time as drama and the second time as farce.
"put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran and North Korea". There are no nuclear inspectors in North Korea! Iran is not cooperating with the inspectors. Germany, France and Britain are dealing with Iran and we are not involved. Iran knows we're bogged down in Iraq and they are not worried about us.
I'm glad Libya came around. They have been trying to rejoin the world community for years. If you want to give GWB credit for it, that's fine with me.
All that stuff in your email about Chappaquiddick, Florida, Janet Reno and the Rose Law Firm is what we in the reality-based community call "irrelevant". Sometimes we call it "laughable hogwash". Sometimes we just say "what in the hell are these wingnuts yammering about now?"
By the way, Janet Reno took full responsibility for the debacle in Waco. Bill Clinton took full responsibility for ignoring Rwanda. They both apologized. Has George Bush ever admitted a mistake? Hmmm.
"Germany never attacked us, Japan did." Oh Christ, that's weak. Is that supposed to be a joke? Or is that all you got?
Take me off this kool-aid drinking wing-nut email forwarding list. I am staying firmly in the reality-based community, thank you. All you Wing-nuts, go read some books or something. Lay off the kool-aid. Go join the army or get a job with Halliburton, they need you. Go fight the terrorists over there so I don't have to fight this hogwash over here.
I think some people may say that my response is too contemptuous or arrogant. But I'm through being cool and treating what is ludicrous as if it is serious argument. As Hubert Humphrey said, "The right to be heard does not automatically include the right to be taken seriously." I like the style of Lawrence O'Donnell and Al Gore: put a flamethrower to the thugs. The wingnuts deserve no respect. They should be laughed and hooted and hissed off of the stage of public discourse. Lies should be called lies. Wingnuts have earned only contempt and ridicule leavened with laughter.
The proper response to a wing nut is the response Ann Coulter got the other day: a pie in the face. If only the aim had been better!
