Fahrenheit 9/11 has
already been airing on Tuscon, AZ public access cable--shouldn't there be a push to do the same around the country, and especially in swing states?
Pontificator had a diary on this subject a while back, and I'm wondering if any more progress has been made. I wrote to my local (Madison WI) public access cable station asking about it, and their reply (below the fold) sounds willing, even encouraging, but I would need some more help to do anything about it.
I wrote the following to
WYOU, our community's public access cable station:
Hi,
I've read that Michael Moore has approved his smash-hit Fahrenheit 9/11 to be shown for free on public access cable stations. I don't personally have a copy of the film to submit to you but I assume that with so many liberal activists in the community someone will probably approach you with a request to air F9/11 and I'm writing in support of that. I also support your showing any other types of political films.
Thanks,
Elizabeth D-
I got a reply today:
Elizabeth -
Thank you for your message. I have read that an access station in Tucson is airing the film. I'm not sure if Mr. Moore has given rights to all stations, or just that one.
You are right - staff can not secure programming. WYOU is a nonprofit membership organization and relies on contributions from the community to maintain its program schedule. If a member of the station submits the program, we'll certainly see if we can fit it into our program schedule.
Thanks for watching,
Whitney

Now, the thing is, I am broke and unemployed and cannot afford a DVD of F9/11 or a membership to their station. In fact I don't even have cable anymore since I can't afford it. But to me this reads like basically an invitation to pursue this. I KNOW someone in this area has to have the money and interest to get F9/11 in front of swing state eyeballs. Can you help? If not, can you consider recommending this diary?
update:
It's shown on public access in Binghampton NY too, according to MichaelMoore.com.
