I'm not a military expert by any means. But I have a major question about the current spin on the Al Qa Qaa explosives.
I did a little reading on the Al Qa Qaa Complex:
http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/world/iraq/al_qa_qaa.htm
Even if WMD's were a pretext, wouldn't you still be pretty interested in this site? How can it be that "they were gone when we got there?" Isn't that what the airborne are for?
If Al Qa Qaa was a major Iraqi military industrial facility with chemical and nuclear applications, wouldn't the 82nd or 101st Airborne be approrpriate to secure the site before the mechanized infantry made it to Baghdad?
It seems like this wasn't just any old ammunition depot in Iraq and the failure to secure it proves either:
A. Bush et al had no interest in WMD's.
B. Bush et al are incredibly incompetent.
C. All of the above.
