Here is what Bush said yesterday:
"Now my opponent is throwing out the wild claim that he knows where bin Laden was in the fall of 2001 -- (laughter) --and that our military had a chance to get him in Tora Bora. This is an unjustified and harsh criticism of our military commanders in the field."
Well, the truth is that he distracted CENTCOM from the hunt for Bin Laden in the fall of 2001 with rushed planning for war in Iraq, specifically in late November 2001 - exactly when the evidence shows they had Bin Laden cornered at Tora Bora. It's all documented in Bob Woodward's book Plan of Attack which is even on the Bush campaign's suggested reading list. So if they really didn't know where Bin Laden is, Bush's misguided distraction with rush planning for Iraq sure didn't help. Here's a video of the timeline.
