Looks like they're
stepping up their assault...
Insurgents attacked three U.S. military convoys here Wednesday with rocket-propelled grenades and roadside bombs, killing three Iraqi civilians and wounding five Americans, the U.S. military and hospital officials said.
The attacks occurred in a city long considered relatively safe for U.S. troops, compared to Baghdad and the cities and towns in the volatile "Sunni Triangle" to the south.
Two comments:
One, this is a very bad thing. It the insurgent Iraqis are starting to assault areas over which we once asserted control. In other words, we're losing ground. This gives credence to the reports that our troops have fallen back behind barracaded areas, and only patrol in heavily armed convoys.
Two, at least the media is referring to the Iraqi guerillas as what they are: insurgents, not terrorists, as the Bush Administration would claim. This may be grasping at straws, but I consider this to be a bit of good news, since the media has been so heavily dominated by Bush Admin propaganda.
