Just about every community i've been a part of has, at some point or another, eventually gotten together to meet up in person. The idea being that people who enjoy each others company online, generally would also enjoy each others company in the real world.
Now, speaking from personal experience at Dean parties, having such a great time talking to local folks about local politics, national politics and the like, I can only imagine how much fun a dailykos type get together could be.
But check it out, it could also be beneficial to the canidates we support.
So here's my idea.
We set up a series of Dailykos parties, where we get together, shoot the breeze, put faces to the user names and generally have fun. They have dual purposes as well for being fundraisers for Kerry, and the Dkos 8, and whatever other causes we support at the moment.
So, for instance, here in the bay area, I can go, meet some familiar names, BS with people about the prospects for the Oakland mayor's race in 2006, and strategerize for Kerry, all the while carousing and having a good old time.
I think this would be a lot of fun, has the benefit of increasing the base and our influence, and there's no reason that we couldn't have these kinds of things in any place where we have users, Ohio, Missouri, everywhere!
