I've had a pretty sucky morning (at least compared to my previous mornings, which were groggy at best). Cable's out, so I had little chance to catch anything really interesting. So rather than keep the TV off, I decided to flip through the morning shows. And of course, I landed on the Today show, which had a piece on the growing confrontations leading up to the election. Lo and behold, what do I find but a gratuitous smattering of what NBC seemed to want to show as Kerry supporter desperation, including the infamous taped decking of a Bush supporter by a Kerry supporter, as well as sign stealings and what not. The only thing from the Bush side was the story about the Florida (?) man who threatened to kill his girlfriend over her Kerry support. APparently, NBC needs a dose of Orcinus to see the REAL desperation, and it's NOT coming from the Kerry side.

Ok, so that was bad. Still, nothing compared to what'd come next. I had sent my registration by mail, making sure that it'd at least get postmarked by the deadline (Durn you, Columbus, for making the 11th a holiday I didn't need). However, despite my sister and my roomies getting their registration last week, I got nothing. So finally, after waiting out of hope, I call the county elections board. ANd guess what I found? Yep, I'M NOT REGISTERED. Despite asking them to check for it under several things (name, addy, SSN), I was not registered. My hope was brought up by my sister bringing up that she was automatically registered once in our home state of WV because of her license. So I check home. No G.D. dice.
So yeah, I'm pretty damn pissed now. And disappointed that I can't vote. And sort of ashamed too, especially since I wanted to write a diary leading to the election called 'What It Means To Be A Patriot' showing why I was gonna vote Dem and why I felt it was my patriotic duty to do so. But now.....ERGH. At least I'm gonna try and do my part by volunteering at the KE04 HQ here again.
MINOR EDIT: About the only good point of the morning (which I forgot to add) was finishing up THe Right Wing Noise Machine, and even that did little more than piss me off after seeing the Today show. Is it too late to swear off the media completely, save Daily Show?
