I wrote a letter to the editor in the Oregonian via the moveon.org website. This is what I wrote:
In their debate Thursday, John Kerry and George Bush revealed character traits that should guide voters in the upcoming election. John Kerry was critical of the President, but he was gracious and articulate. George Bush was resolute, but his anger at being disagreed with was disturbing. Strength is gathered from confronting dificulties adeptly, and challenges overcome with poise are inspiration to us all. We need a President who is open to differences of opinion and is willing to consider those differences as stepping stones to a smarter argument. Wisdom, as well as determination, are necessary to guide us to a more secure future. I will vote for John Kerry
Unfortunately, it hasn't been published, but, in today's paper they say that, in the past week, the paper has received 606 letters about the campaign. 505 were pro Kerry or anti Bush. 50 were pro Bush. The rest were noncommittal. Oregon stays blue.
