They're going to be polling throughout the weekend, but so far, a considerablly larger number of people think the Bin Laden tape just brings back memories that Bin Laden is still out there.

In 1980, there was some punditry that asserted that Jimmy Carter was hurt because the one-year anniversary of the Teheran hostage-taking came up a few days before the election. That meant all the networks (all three of them) had their 1-year anniversary stories, including film of blindfolded American hostages, etc. Since the hostages were still in captivity, the anniversary reminded everyone of what seemed like a failure on Carter's part. Could the same thing be happening with the bin Laden tape?
