Ok, I've got something to ask of all Kossacks.
Please, please, please no complains about the weather forecast for this Tuesday! I'll tell you right now, it's gunna rain in Ohio and parts of Pennsylvania on Tuesday. The conventional wisdom says that rain hurts Democrats. But, pardon the pun, I think it's all a wash. My concern is below.
Regardless of what effect (if any) that rain may have, my main concern over the impending throng of comments and diaries cursing the weather gods is the following. What does the assumption that rain keeps Democrats away from the polls say about us? Hummm...that we're weak-willed? Don't have strong convictions? Scared of a little rain? Sounds exactly like the GOP's critiques, as baseless and incorrect as they are, of Kerry doesn't it?
I honestly don't know what rain will do to turnout. If anything, it will affect Bush voters as much as Kerry voters. However, I would rather that we not reinforce baseless conventional wisdom that implies Democrats are lazy and weak-willed... We already know that's not true. Let's just focus on keeping our folks pumped up enough to vote no matter what the situation!!! If we do, we win...it's that simple. GOTV!
