Minnesota Republicans have met their match - and they don't like it.
With polls showing Minnesota swinging heavily into Kerry territory, the Appointee in Chief showed up at the oh-so-corporate Target center for a last hurrah. Fired up by the apocolyptic rhetoric, but feeling the cold wind of loss down their back, they did what they do best...
...resort to violent action.

As reported on Twin Cities Indymedia, [article one | article two w/photos | photo series] Bush supporters got a little testy at anti-Bush demonstrators last Sunday. Their rally, held in the taxpayer-funded and corporate-branded Target Center, got 20,000 people (corporate media estimate) - far smaller than the Kerry rally days earlier (30,000, corporate media). Kerry, appropriately, held his rally outside the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome.
The altercations highlighted here are a grim warning for what will happen in the country when Kerry wins. Since the conservatives have shown their willingness to fight on, and fight dirty (the impeachment effort, for example) they are not likely to take the electoral spanking they are due to be delivered very well at all. Look for an increase in hateful rhetoric (as if it wasn't bad enough) as well as an increase in violent right-wing groups.
That is, after they have exhausted their attempts to steal the election in the courts - again. The No Stolen Elections Coalition is already organizing to make sure that this time, the streets will not stay quiet as an attempt at a judicial coup d'etat is made again. Mosh this!
The election of John Kerry is a necessary first step to stanch the bleeding of our democracy. It MUST be followed up by a mass progressive movement to root out the power of the radical religious and neo-fascist right, as well as breaking the back of corporate power in this country.
