THE RULES
Hidden deep in the 30-page memo of understanding for tomorrow night's debate is the condition that questions posed in the town hall meeting must be in the form of haiku:
- exactly 5 syllables in the first line
- exactly 7 syllables in the second line
- exactly 5 syllables in the third line
Questions should be for President Bush, and must pass muster as "reasonable," as judged by the moderator (i.e., stand a chance of getting on the air).
Bonus points are awarded for variations on "Mr. President, who is to blame for..." which force him to accept responsibility for the miserable failures of a Republican-controlled White House, Senate, and House, or to egregiously pass the buck on national TV.
Entry #1
Mr. President,
who's responsible for the
budget deficit?
Entry #2
If he were here when
Saddam was in power, what
would Jesus have done?
Entry #3
When you thought there were
weapons of mass destruction
being built -- who fooled you?
