This
news today from AP has to be the ultimate Rove/BushCo fear-mongering abuse imaginable:
The government is taking steps to avoid a school siege like the one that killed nearly 340 people in Russia last month.
The Education Department is warning schools nationwide to keep a sharp eye out for people spying on their buildings -- which it says could be a possible sign of a terror threat.
The warning comes after the FBI and Homeland Security Department analyzed the Russian siege.
The government says the warning didn't follow any specific terror threat to schools or universities.
But it does want school leaders to watch out for people who ask for school site plans and bus routes or watch security drills.
...
The Education Department sent its letter by e-mail Wednesday to school police, state school officers, school boards, groups representing principals and many other organizations.
The Homeland Security Department also sent a bulletin to federal, state and local emergency officials to provide fresh guidance based on the review of the school siege in Russia.
The website for the ABC News outlet in Denver, which is but one of dozens of places where this story appears today, kindly includes a poll asking "Do you feel your child's school is secure?" Right now 52% of the almost 8000 who have answered say "No."
Can they really be this desparate?
