For purposes of discussion, let's assume that election fraud was rampant on both GOP and DEM sides. So what is the appropriate remedy? We need penalties that are severe enough to discourage small fraud altogether, and make large-scale/coordinated attacks counterproductive.
So, here are my suggestions for changes to federal law:
- Any individual convicted of election fraud in any degree loses the right to vote permanently.
- Minimum incarceration is based on the term of the post influenced (senate races become the biggies!). 1st-degree = double term, 2nd-degree = term, 3rd-degree = half term, etc.
- Similarly, organizations losing tax-exempt status as a result of fraud are barred from re-applying for status for the term of the post influenced.
- Tax-exempt status will not be granted for organizations led (president or directors) by anyone convicted under election-fraud law.
Am I missing anything? Over the top?
