OK, it's silly, it's stupid, it's an indication that Okrent is flacking for the toxic culture of the times rather than the readers, and it's...

GONE?????

It looks like it's been excised from his article, in the same way that the STALIN or Bush administration would.

No reference left to loner, or Wilgoren, or anything.

It's just GONE.

My thesis has always been that the problem is not that reporters have political agendas, but that they are self-absorbed assholes to a degree which makes decent news coverage impossible.

Mr. Okrent, put the rest of the NY Times staff to shame in this regard.
