The governor's race has just been called for Brian Schweitzer, the first democractic governor in 16 years in Montana. Schweitrzer is crushing his opponent, the republican Secretary of State Bob Brown by 11%!!!!!!
Also, this is the first time in 50 years that democrats have swept all five high state offices at once!
But unfortunately, Montana went for Bush by around 18%. Talk about split tickets.
Celebrate your local victories folks!
Update1: Brian Schweitzer says "Tell your neighbors, tell the republicans, the libertarians, the vegetarians, that a new day is dawning in Montana".
Bob Brown actually gave a gracious concession speech a minute ago as well.
Whew!!! I worked almost as hard on this race as I did on Kerry-Edwards.
Update2: Democrats won the Secretary of state's race (controls elections hint, hint) state auditor's office, office of public instruction (school superintendent) and moderates appear to taken both supreme court seats. Damn, it's big for a redstate to get rid of the wingnuts!
