All this talk about values and morals and how those things helped Bush is driving me absolutely crazy. I want to scream every time I hear mention of any of it. ...All of my instincts tell me that Bush is only a christian when the cameras are on.
I was raised in the Southern Baptist Church. My mother was the church secretary up until I was in middle school and we switched churches, and we attended (at least) three church services a week. Hanging around with the christian teenagers was quite an experience in hypocracy.
I was constantly told how having a Nine Inch Nails sticker on my car made me a horrible sinner and how by not reading my bible consistently, I was probably going straight to hell. My black nailpolish and a necklace I had with an eyeball on it were signs of satanism, I was told.
The eagerness to point out the sins of others was pretty exhausting, but that being said, where are they now, and why are they voting for Bush? Why don't they look at Bush the same way they look at their fellow churchgoers? They don't believe in the faith of the old lady in the headscarf who sits in the third row, but they believe in the faith of this smirking, red-faced, ex-substance abuser?
To me, it's obvious that this man is slime. He doesn't attend church, and he's in favor of the death penalty. He is responsible for the deaths of thousands of people, and thinks this is okay. He ignores all the parts of the bible that say you should help the less-fortunate, while underlining the short blurb that COULD have to do with abortion (if you think about it, and spin it a little bit) and homosexuality (which is also iffy).
Where are you guys? Where is the "youth minister" who told me I was a sinner, but knocked up a junior high girl? Where is the man who wouldn't let his small daughter go trick-or-treating because he thought Halloween was a satanic holiday? ...if they can find fault with these people and these things, where is the fault they should be finding in George W. Bush?
