I was a pollwatcher in Florida for my precinct and stated this before but yesterday instead of my usually almost all-white, Republican Precinct which usually runs about 58% or so to 42% where I have voted for years it was now filled with color..namely people of all colors, Hispanics, African-Americans, Pakistani-Americans, Indian-Americans, Arab-Americans, you name it, etc., for the first time. It was also
**literally awash in a sea of youth** from the USF. I saw all these students and frankly was stunned and awed but I knew the University had been creeping up our way with student apartments and such and I felt the district was winnable due to the GOTV at the University and the numbers registered.
What I saw was we may not have won the precinct but it was going to be close. I was paying attention to fraud and asked the elected officials several questions about several voters but was so bored, I started counting people entering the polling precinct and tried to decide if they were Republican or Democrat...and in general, this was my count per ten people as that is how they let them into the polling precinct: 3-4 young people under 25 or so with the University Logo quite often on them, 2 African Americans, 1-2 people of color (Pakistanis, Indians, Hispanic, etc.) 3 white people who can also happen to be Democrats (or Green Party too). Sometimes it was 9 young people (6 white and 3 African American) and 1 white middleaged person like me. Sometimes it was 5 African-Americans, 5 Caucasians, etc..but my general ratio holds. I didn't see 10 middleaged white people let alone conservative-types all day long in these rounds of 10 or anywhere near that number in any given group which would have given us it's old polling rate which it DID DO closely, according to the District Results, which were the closest results I could find. The exact breakdown of the precinct isn't posted yet by the board of elections.
I work with computers for a living and there can be only one explanation if people went to vote like I saw today..computer fraud. I actually saw the partial returns for Ohio before I saw our county's and I thought hmm, as I had that niggling something is not right in the pit of my stomach but can't put my finger on it...and then looked up ours and saw what the district was...exactly how it used to be when it was a White Yuppie Haven ...in the voting results.
The way the vote went, I think something was truly wrong with the voting machines. I think we have been had again. I think those machines ought to be checked by non-partisan computer experts pronto and am trying to reach the appropriate authorities right now. I called the Supervisor of Elections for the breakdowns and am now going to call Kerry Headquarters and let them know this, somehow.
