I am bouncing between despair for my family and my country and outrage that the election might have been stolen and thoughts of moving to someplace "bluer" or even another country (although here in PA we did come through and even elected three Ds to statewide office - Attorney General, Auditor General and Treasurer) and hope based the effort I saw (I was a MoveOn PAC precinct leader and had five out-of-state folks drive to PA to help us get an 80% turnout for Ds in my Precinct).
What I need is some powerful music to see me through! Here's what I have on my mix list so far:
- "What's So Funny (About Peace Love and Understanding)?" Elvis Costello
- "Three Little Birds" Bob Marley
- "Conscious Evolution", "Positive Friction" and "America" Donna the Buffalo
- "The Guns of Brixton" The Clash
- "This Land is Your Land" Woody Guthrie
- "What's Going On" Marvin Gaye
- Any Michael Franti/Spearhead
- "Martyr" Rusted Root
- "Pass in Time" Beth Orton
- "Rock and Roll" Velvet Underground
- "Eyes of the World", "New Speedway Boogie" Grateful Dead
- "Living in the Promised Land" Willie Nelson
- "Hope in a Hopeless World", "All-Time Low" Widepsread Panic
- "Born on the Wrong Planet", "Little Hands" String Cheese Incident
- "Ashes of American Flags" Wilco
and tons more (Steve Earle, Bruce, REM, Rage Against the Machine, Ani DeFranco, Billy Bragg, Old 97s, etc. etc. etc.)
What's on your Black Tuesday list???
