Here's what I was thinking. We need to start talking about our issues in terms of their morality. We need to start talking about poverty again and tie that in with religious values ("blessed are the poor" type language). We need to talk about health care as a moral values issue--the sinfulness of not allowing a poor child to see a doctor when she gets sick versus giving tax cuts to the wealthy. We need to remind religious conservatives that morality isn't simply being pro-life (although we could modify our position on that issue a bit), but also applies to issues of social justice. If our movement goes back to touching upon religious truths (as did the civil rights movement), we can get people excited again and start picking up some of these people who go to church and won't vote Dem.
