Yeah, yeah, yeah, I still haven't gotten past the emotional gutcheck and moved past to planning. I just don't move that fast. What I have done is at least try and find means of venting, and a lot of that is done through music. Never one for writing lyrics, a lot of my reactions to this whole debacle has proven good fodder for writing. I managed to plug out one whole tentative song in about 15 minutes, over the outrage I had that gay marriage was so soundly rejected and mollified (the actual song will be plugged in extended text).
So what have you written lately, or at least heard, that manages to sum up your thoughts?
Monster in the Closet
The monster in the closet
He's there when you sleep
Haunting your thoughts
Invading your dreams
Huddle in your sheets
Dare not open the door
If you let him out
Who knows if there are more?
Chorus:
Get the mob ready
Torch and forks at hand
This creature threatens
To destroy your plans
But you refuse to see
He's just like you and me
Because the monster in the closet
Well, he's just a man
Stuck in his prison
Afraid to stand in sight
Not with the riot
Denying him his life
And if he steps out
And defends his own rights
Be assured a stake in the heart
Awaits him this night
Repeat Chorus
Bridge:
What are you afraid of?
What do you have to lose?
Is there no room on this pedestal
For both him and you?
With all power in your hands
Your power to abuse
Have you thought that maybe...
Maybe the monster is you?
Repeat Chorus 2x
So again, anything in music that sums up your state of mind right now?
