The advantage we have gained in this election is the organization and mobilization possibilities for 2006.
This is something we haven't had in many, many years.
The many groups (too many to list) that formed in 2004 not only provide the stucture but also the training to get out the vote. We now know who in the different precincts to target, we know how to target these voters, we know what motivates them, we know how to get them to the poll.
More after the break.
The groups have a cadre of people that is willing, able, and on-the-job trained to do the ground work required. It can't wither on the vine. The networks and contacts need to be maintained so the intellectual capital is not lost.
At the same time we know which voters were disenfranchised by the Republican party. These people are certainly angry. THEY NEED TO BE TARGETED TO ENSURE THEY ARE CORRECTLY REGISTERED. They are going to be motivated to vote in 2006 and we need their vote.
The Republicans took over Congress in 1994 by having their ground-game in place. We now have our ground-game in place if it is not frittered away.
We can win back Congress in 2006 if the same effort is put into the races that was put into this campaign.
