Vanity Fair astrologer Michael Lutin predicted a Bush victory the day before the election.
His message for 11/05/04:
"Some people are ecstatic, contented. Even Cancers are less hysterical, enjoying themselves for five minutes at home. Libras are pretty mental, though, they're happy they're sad they're calm they're nervous they're full of something , God knows, either happiness or caffeine. Other...
... people are pissed and frustrated, but that's life. The wheel goes up into the sunlight for some people, down into the swill for others. Those who voted against Bush, now with Bush at the helm, feel more scared than the people on the bus did in "Speed" with Sandra Bullock, but on the other side there are those who would have croaked if Kerry had gotten in, partly because they feel that Teresa Heinz Kerry not only doesn't look like a First Lady but looks more like the lady who comes in to do the ironing for the First Lady. You just can't please everybody."
From the day after the election:
"Wanna know what Bush said when he was alone in the bathroom this morning?"Goddammit! I won!"
Now that it's all over and the photo ops are a thing of the past (Didn't Kerry and Edwards sometimes look like a gay couple on their way to IKEA?), a new movement will eventually come to light mainly because one always becomes what one seeks to destroy. What will begin to happen in America is a cross-fertilization process between the two major parties. Party defections are already occurring. The dissension with the nation will eventually become very polarized. When Saturn is in the process of transiting a sign and it goes retrograde there one does not expect a major change in administration."
Geocosmic red meat:
"... it might be helpful especially for astrology fiends if we looked at what astrological configurations led me to the hypothesis about the election: here are my astrological reasons for saying what I said. This has nothing to do with any political views I have or don't have. With Saturn in Cancer on Bush's Saturn and the Moon there
all day during election day it seemed that people's feelings would be geared toward their own individual security which Bush has attempted to embody in this campaign. Besides, this transit of Saturn coincides with his saturn return in the twelfth which to me indicated
the blessing/curse of getting what you wish for which is happening for everybody born either around 45-46 or even 75-76. In the 12th house it also indicates a
crisis of faith and a feeling of being trapped by all your previous actions and in that sense Bush appeared to be stuck in the White House. And in the twelfth house
feeling secretly very ill about the whole thing and
Saturn's presence usually coincides with an even greater period of heavy responsibility in coming months and certainly not liberated from a tough situation.
Kerry on the other hand is in a strong position. Much support with Venus and Jupiter in his eleventh house which besides showing support from great numbers of people also suggests greater freedom over the next year and pluto on his Sun but the opposition to his seventh house pileup seemed to me difficult for him right now to overcome opposition. Saturn in the eighth going retrograde doesn't seem like the exact configuration of feeling like you get what you want. The presence of Pluto in his sign in his first house indicated to me that his contribution long term to effect transformation in the USA might be more powerfully manifested in the role of activist, almost as a rebel or outcast. We'll see."
