On another board, one that has people from all ends of the political spectrum, there have been a lot of comments about "liberals" being "hateful" and "paranoid," comments about "how sad it is that people can't discuss politics without getting angry," and an attempt to divide "liberals" into good liberals and bad liberals, the former being supposedly civil and the latter being supposedly hateful.
I seem to be the "bad liberal" poster child. What I had written to provoke that was, in my opinion, quite mild. "Paranoia," in this context, seems to refer to my writing that we have to resist the administration's dragging this country down the tubes. The notion that Bush will harm this country was seen as laughable, and expressing concern about it seen as a sign of "needing help."
Any ideas about how to respond, short of just avoiding these discussions altogether? It would be easy enough for me to avoid -- I live in the bluest of blue areas and run into very few Republicans in the flesh, so all I would have to do is refrain from clicking on websites where this kind of discussion is going on. But it's getting under my skin, and I'd like to respond if there is any good way to do so. Any ideas?
