Franklin Co. Ohio has now released its official tally of votes, including provisionals, along with a list of every provisional voter, grouped by whether or not their vote was accepted (sub-grouped by reason for rejection).
As has been the norm, there are some pretty screwy things in these documents, including bizarre absentee totals, bizarre provisional voters, etc. Links and details below the fold.
These are huge PDFs (the provisional voter list, for example, is 909 pages). but you can get the
official abstract of votes along with the
original unofficial countand the
provisional ballot detail from the board of elections.
What I've noticed so far:
- On page 176 of the PBD, we find that a voter named "AAA Test Tester A JR" was lucky enough to have his (her?) provisional ballot count.
- Pages 153-175 of the PBD contain people who have the status "IN PRECINCT - MUST USE VOTING MACHINE." These people (350+) are neither coded as "vote" or "no vote," while the other 14000 voters are clearly labeled. The reason for using a provisional ballot is listed as "NAME DOES NOT APPEAR IN POLL BOOK." It seems that some people's votes may not have counted because they were in the book, but the pollworker couldn't find it, and gave them a provisional, which is illegal. I'll probably be sending an e-mail off to Damschroder for clarification.
- ABSENTEE BALLOTS. When I first discovered the Gahanna 1-B problem, I also noted that the absentee ballots appeared to have been counted twice. In the unofficial abstract of votes, the totals for Absentee 1 and Absentee 2 were nearly identical, but both were included in the grand total. In the Official abstract, this is no longer true for the Presidential and Senate races, BUT IT IS STILL TRUE FOR THE DOWNTICKET RACES.
Out of more than 23000 votes cast in each group, the numbers for each candidate differ by 0 or 1 across the board. This "error" has only been fixed in the presidential election. I would dearly love an explanation.
