We as a country have never seen this kind of pushing on the our Civil Rights. It seems that the government has taken it upon itself to remove the liberties afforded us by birth. This is an administration that does not believe in personal privacy, but the intrusion in to the lives of its citizenry.
With the passing of the Patriot Act in September of 2001, to the startling news that our government has seen it fit to spy on its people, like a third world dictatorship. Our civil liberties have been stretched to near breaking point. When the leader of a so-called free society stands boldface and tells the people that placed him in that position, that he has done what he is accused of, and that he will continue to do so, it is an arrogance that should be considered a great danger.
As we all know by now, (P)Resident Bush has signed an order to allow the NAS to spy on the people of the United States. Some have said, that it is for domestic safety, and yet others see it for what it is, spying on the people he sworn to protect, and the "Trampling of the God Damn piece of paper," he took an oath to uphold.
It is a grave injustice, when the person that is put in power misuses that very power that they are intrusted with, on his or her own people. (P)resident Bush has seen it fit to provide for Iraq, what he will not even offer his own country, a freedom of thought and a peace of mind when it comes to, the health and welfare, of the people.
For the "High Crimes And Misdemeanors," that this (P)resident and his staff has committed, and for the lies and half truths that he has brought before the world, we the people must insist, no demand that he be held accountable , and made an example of. We must show those in power that when they step over the lines that have been laid down by the Constitution, we will not stand for it. When the building of another nation, is put before the well-being of this nation we will not stand for it. That when they lie and send thousands to their deaths, we will not stand for it.

In yesterday's Radio address to the nation (P)resident Bush, continued the Right-Wing fear- mongering, trying to get the people of the country to surrender their rights to the government under the Patriot Act.
As I have pointed out in the past, the whole Patriot Act does not Sun Set on Dec 31,2005. Only those sections that are trying to be rewritten, by the pro-rights side of the aisle. I say this in this way, because there are both Republican, and Democrats, that feel these 15 sections go against the rights afforded us under the constitution. The (P)resident, stated that those in the senate that oppose these sections, are putting the United States in danger.
New York Post He also lashed out at senators, both Democrats and Republicans, who voted on Friday to block the reauthorization of the USA Patriot Act, which expanded the president's power to conduct surveillance, with warrants, in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks.
I personally feel that these senators are on the issue at least, freedom fighters.
He said the Senate's action "endangers the lives of our citizens," and added that "the terrorist threat to our country will not expire in two weeks," a reference to the approaching deadline of Dec. 31, when critical provisions of the current law will end.
As I said in Saturdays diary, when they feel that they are about to lose they break out the "Fear Card", but it is losing its affect on the people.
Just a little side note, while I was putting this together this morning I had the Washington Journal on, and a phone call caught my ear, it was from a man that has a son getting ready to go back for his 2nd tour of Iraq, after being wounded. The man ask Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R)Georgia, what branch of the military he served in, and the Senator, replied that he did not serve. The father was not shocked to hear this, and remained respectful of the Senator, (something I could not have done.) After explaining his son situation, the soldiers father ask the senator, Just what kind of war plan it was to send the wounded back in battle. Mr. Chambliss danced around the question for five minutes, by repeating how proud he was for the sons service to his country, and that he has the utmost respect for the callers service also.
Two callers latter a lady from Illinois posed the question, Hoe he could sit their and say that he has nothing but respect for those who are serving and have served in the military, after in his campaign he dishonored the service of Max Cleland. A question that had her cut short. There again he danced around the question, until they put a caller that back Bush on the line.
