There is a lot going on around the country that we have to keep track of.
News occurring in New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, California and more
California is the most interesting as it may have serious consequences to the political landscape.
All below the jump
In Tennessee, Bill Frist seems to have made some bad decisions. Since 2000, his campaign fund has lost almost $460,000 in bad stock market investments. I'm not sure, but as a future presidential contender, mismanagement of funds could hurt both his reputation and his run as a whole.
Tennessee
In Virginia, the governor's race seems to be shaping up. Attorney General Jerry Kilgore (R-VA) has created a team of political stratagists. Look for a matchup in the open gubanatorial race between him and Tim Kaine, the current Democratic Lt. Governor.
Virginia
Two special elections may be called in North Carolina and in California. In North Carolina, because over 4,000 votes were lost, those voters plus any registered voter who did not vote in the district will re-vote to see if the outcome changes in the state Agriculture Race.
In California, Arnold is so fed up with his legislature that he is preparing to call a special election in 2005 to "redraw legislative and congressional district boundaries" and "revamp the bureacracy"
California
As you probably all know, John Corzine announced his intention to run for governor of New Jersey today. The New York Times ran a nice article on the problems with the NJ republican party before he announced
New Jersey
In other stories, the recount in Alabama failed to change the result. The racist language in the state constitution will remain.
In Texas, the recount of a legislative race where a vietnamese immigrant knocked off a powerful republican gained the representative-elect, Hubert Vo, one vote and giving him a 32 vote victory. This one is still being challenged.
