Yesterday the Democratic Governors met to discuss a variety of things including who should be the new DNC Chair. The
Washington Post reported:
At their news conference, the governors endorsed a split role for party leadership, calling for a model that includes a national spokesman and a chief executive officer.
Personally, I like this model and if accepted I wholeheartedly support Ann Richards for DNC Chair with Donna Brazile as C.E.O. Not only is Richards one of the party's most likable and energetic partisans, but she's is one of the few people available who can raise as much if not more money than McAuliffe. If there is someone who can make Southern, Midwest, rural, swing, Christian and white male voters feel good about being Democrats again, Ann Richards can, for her ability to bring the funny, delivered with a Texas accent at that is a political talent unmatched by any in our party.
Behind Richards I'd like to see Donna Brazile. In a previous diary, I expressed support for a
Brazile DNC Chairmanship, primarily because she is the party's best manager, organizer, and if anyone, she is most capable of getting the party to replicate/integrate the efforts of 527s like ACT. She also is a big fan of many of the things advocated by members here such as the importance of down-ballot, women and minority candidates, and utilizing the grassroots/netroots.
Message, money and organization: Ann Richards for Democratic National Committee Chairman and Donna Brazile for Democratic National Committee Chief Executive Officer.
