A few days ago I posted a diary about
Paul Harvey slamming our troops, saying American casualties in Iraq were no more important or tragic than traffic accidents in New York.
I found that comment incredibly sick (and, unfortunately, very typical of the rightwingers) and used the sponsor links on his website to tell his sponsors as much.
Now I'm getting letters back from the sponsors.
My favorite thus far is from the CEO of SmartBalance (the lowfat margarine):
Dear Mr. Carlson:
I fully agree with your reaction to the absurd comparison between our troop casualties in the defense of our country to traffic accidents in the streets of New York. How insensitive and foolish a statement that is. While I did not hear it, I accept your report of what Mr. Harvey said. I normally like to stay out of statements made by media since our first amendment to our constitution does allow free speech. Yet, on the other hand, the use of radio air waves is a privilege that should not be abused. I feel strongly enough in this instance to break with our normal policy of ignoring media opinion and, therefore, I intend to register our strong disapproval of that statement. Thank you for letting us know about it. You are entirely
justified in being indignant about it.

Amazing what a letter can do. But if every Kos reader did the same, then we might be onto something.
