The news cycle has almost finished the circular flushing of the Janet Jackson boob story. The hubbub of her possible appearance at the Grammys has come and gone. The apologies have come and gone. And now the
ridiculous lawsuit has been withdrawn.
Is there a story left? Seems to have been washed out of the nation for the most part, and what are the lessons learned?
Don't flash boobs (or other naughty bits) at a televised Super Bowl appearance.
I predict we'll have almost a year of no televised partial nudity on the broadcast networks, until shortly after the NEXT Super Bowl. Of course, next year, in addition to the buildup of the teams and the game, there will be constant reminders and retrospectives and lessons learned broadcast about the notorious nip shot.
Which means Janet Jackson will get two bites at the same publicity apple - and for the mere cost of showing a breast. How long after the next Super Bowl will it take before some other performer, desperate for additional publicity, risks a public viewing of private parts? I'm betting at the Grammys, 2005.
Here's your chance to weigh in on the future of partial nudity on broadcast television.
