I taped Meet The Press with Bush and just watched it yesterday. Firstly, I think Russert did well, even if he wasn't as harsh as
you might like, he asked a lot of good questions about the war and even the AWOL charge. The questions were very interesting, the evasiveness spoke for itself.
But what really got me as a crack in the solidarity of the neocon-religious right coalition was this:
Russert: But your base conservatives -- and listen to Rush Limbaugh, the Heritage Foundation, Cato Institute, they're all saying you are the biggest spender in American history.
President Bush: Well, they're wrong.
Impossible! Bush says Rush is wrong!
Oh, this is a petty point? So? Rest assured, there are neocons whose heads are smoking. Rush is right, damnit! I wonder if Rush said anything about this.
