Once again here is my observations of the top ten stories, rumors, and events that the members of DailyKos have been talking about since last Wednesday, February 11, 2004 until today. These are only my subjective observations, judged completely by me....
10. SAN FRANCISCO GOES NUTS.
California has outlawed gay marriage. But that doesn't stop Gavin Newsom. The new mayor marries anyone who will ask him, and a lot of Kossacks here are happy about that. But....ummm....the mayor is flagrantly breaking the law. These "marriages" are in no way legal. What is all the excitement about? Work to change the law first, don't break it now.
9. POLLS, POLLS AND MORE POLLS.
Kerry leads Bush by 11, no 5. Kerry leads Edwards by 20, no 15 no 10 no 5...oh sh*t. Watching polls is like watching the stock market. It's our crack. We need it. Keep these polls coming ARG, Rasmussen, SurveyUSA, Gallup, etc.
8. WELCOME BACK NADER AND ER AH MOORE
(key Darth Vader theme)....Nader returns to destroy yet another election and subject our beloved country to another four years of hell...but this time he has company. Roy Moore, the religious Judge who won't enforce laws, believes that Bush isn't religious enough for him and will explore running for President. What will happen? Stay tuned.
7. AWOL DOCUMENT DUMP AT 6:30 P.M. FRIDAY OF A LONG HOLIDAY WEEKEND.
Memo to Rove: You cannot Xerox three documents one hundred times, throw them into the White House Briefing Room, run home, and expect the scandal to be over. You haven't answered the questions to our satisfaction...which by the way is the same Goddamn standard you used against President Clinton. All is fair in love and politics.
6. OUR CONGRESS AND YELLIN REPORT
After seeing major landslide success in a special election last night, Kossacks (disappointed Deaniacs among them) are looking for ways to influence the coming Congressional elections. Cheers to Kos for the OurCongress project and Stephen Yellin for his reports on the 30 most competitive races in the House.
5. MORE BLOGADS
First, it was Chandler, now word is spreading of our effectiveness, and now Haines, Sampson, Carson and Meyer have all paid for ads on this site. Our power is increasing by each donation. Even Donna Brazile has heard about it.
4. DEAN'S FAREWELL
It's over. Whether he quits, suspends or stays in the race its over. Governor Dean is now an issue candidate like Sharpton and Kucinich. So says the media. But if we win this year, Dean is the reason for it.
3. KERRY-INTERN STORY OF THE CENTURY....WHOOPS
This was going to be No. 1.....if the story was true. But Kossacks still went nuts over it anyway. You see, that is the thing about rumors, they are rarely true. Remember your experience in high school? Why Matt Drudge is treated like a credible source by some on this site is beyond me.
2. OBJECTS IN MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR
Edward surges into a two man race. Finishes 6 points behind Kerry in a Wisconsin. The coronation has been put on hold for awhile and Super Tuesday means something. This is good news for all involved....more good press for Democrats! In the end, many Kossacks will be happy with Kerry or Edwards, so keep it positive and this continued race can be nothing but a good thing.
1. CHANDLER BUSHWHACKS KERR
Landslide. The good voters of the sixth congressional district of Kentucky rejected a blatant extortion and blackmail attempt by the Speaker of the House and Senator McConnell. Their message to Bush: F*ck you and that horse you rode in on. Rove and Bush invest in Maalox. Harris Wofford 1991 Bellweather redux.
