Turning Bush's Amendment Against Him...

...goes something like this...

DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE, "While I deplore the inherent bigotry of the Presidents constitutional amendment, I'm pleased to see that he is willing to extend basic rights to gay families and in doing so that he is one of the FEW CONSERVATIVES TO PUBLICLY ACCEPT AND CONDONE LOVING RELATIONSHIPS OF SAME SEX COUPLES."

Then...

RELIGIOUS RIGHT, "Homosexual relationships are not acceptable nor are they moral! The bible says these people are sinners, are going to hell, and we're sure the President feels the same way!"

Then...

POOL REPORTER TO SPOKESPERSON: "So, which is it: moral and acceptable... or sinners going straight to hell?

And now the President is in a corner. He much choose... fire up the base and expose his hatred or piss of the right in an attempt to continue the facade of compassion.

THAT'S THE KEY TO THIS ISSUE... force him to choose! If he's willing to extend basic rights, then he's saying it's alright, but if he's saying it's alright, then the right won't come out in droves.
