The Dean comeback?

Now that both Dean and Clark are against the ropes and are taking the same attack to Kerry and Edwards, it is worth asking:  what if Dean and Clark aligned forces early, with Dean as VP?  

It's the dream ticket we were all cheering for at the outset, although I was rooting for the inverse.   Clark is being hammered for lacking domestic policy credentials and for being something of a cipher--and possibly a Republican.   Dean is being hammered for lacking "presidential-ness," for the "scream," and the "holes" in his foreign-policy resume.   However, none of that baggage means anything in a VP--the President of the Senate and not Commander-in-Chief.

If Clark and Dean decided to join forces before the March 2nd primary, they would cut significantly into Kerry's delegate lead and possibly take major states like California, Texas, and New York.

Most importantly--it could sway those "dated Dean, married Kerry" voters back into the Dean camp and thus have a multiplier effect.

The fact is that the Kerry juggernaut is threatening to sweep all but a handful of primaries.   None of the candidates has the ability to stop him on his own.

Could we see a Dean resurgence in the VP slot?
