Ok, just last week, the Republicans were breathing easy because David Kay had, in his statements about Iraqi WMD, specifically blamed poor intelligence. Yesterday, in a speech that didn't include anything really really spectacular, George Tenet responded. However, the
Kay response to the speech by Tenet is something I think you need to read.
Speaking in Washington on Thursday, Mr Kay said the apparent contradiction "raised the possibility that the intelligence community had been telling the White House one thing and the White House had been hearing something else."
He said the issue of whether politicians manipulated data to make the case for war "is an important question that needs to be understood".
And I have read nothing at all which remotely suggests that even the special commission Bush is putting together will look at this question. Nothing. At least Kay is realizing the truth. Kinda puts a damper on the people saying that it was the intel's fault, doesn't it?
