I have no evidence for this except my chat with my doctor yesterday.
Apparently the Navy has decided to cut the number of pediatricians from around 200 down to 80 in an attempt to save money and cut forces so they can have more sailors. This will have a direct impact on the quality of care given to the stateside children of all military personel. Apparently they are cutting other types of doctors as well. This is an absolute guttal of pediatricians by anywhere from 50-66% (I believe they have 150-250 kid docs now)
I believe they are doing this because they are trying to save money and they are up against the statutory maximum for personel, I know they Army is actually past it by a couple tens of thousand people.
Why don't we have money for our soldiers' childrens' doctors?
