I got an email the other day from the Bush campaign site asking me to attend or host a "Party for the President." Looks like they've stolen a Howard Dean idea and run with it. Too bad they didn't steal some of his honesty and his policy ideas.
Anyway, so I'm thinking, why don't a whole bunch of us sign up to attend these parties, or, better yet, host these parties, and turn them into deprogramming sessions for Bush supporters? Republicans are pretty good party guests, as a rule. They usually bring some beer or wine and they're unlikely to soil the carpet. We can focus on core conservative issues, like fiscal responsibility and military preparedness, and show that true Republicans are deeply worried about Bush's irresponsibility on those counts. I know most of those folks wouldn't know the truth if it bit them in the ass, but how will we know unless we start biting?
