Okay, I just read the
article about David Brook's red/blue America piece in Atlantic Monthly a while back, where the journalist goes and takes all of Brooks' "observations" out behind the woodshed.
Now, other than the fact that I live in Southern California, am a Democrat, and
can name five or more NASCAR drivers (though I prefer WRC), something hit me: In the article, when called to task on his "observations" of America, Brooks basically says "He-e-e-y! It was all a joke! Everyone reading it knew it was a joke!"
Now...didn't he get slammed a while back for putting trash in print, and claim, "He-e-e-y! It was all a joke! Everyone reading it knew it was a joke!"
Combine that with rightwing hysteria at a certain Republican (R. Clarke) trying to gain "partisan advantage" by exposing our Appointee-in-Chief for the incompetent fraud he is...and you know the people who get most upset about something tend to be the ones most deeply mired in it...and it looks like there's yet another VRWC..."embed" operatives in the liberal spectrum, and have them muddy the waters as much as possible. Not like a dimly lit star chamber or anything, but one of the "two Americas" sending agents into the other's camp. And of course, we'll all be so accepting that the most fucking childlike, half-assed garbage will work. Like Zell Miller, and David Brooks, and everyone on the NYT staff...
Money has a lot of sway.
Of course, I'm probably talking out my ass. But it's late, and the Red Hook is tasty, so goodnight.
