A lot of people I have been talking to in the liberal community have been pointing out that a Bush victory will drive the nation to the left. It seems logical sure, but thinking about this point lead me to a very interesting conclusion: that the guy making ten, fifteen, twenty dollars an hour, who stands to lose the most from having such a blatantly classist president in power, supports his policies because he is deeply afraid that he will wake up one day with a high paying job with stock options, or a winning lottery ticket, and that it will cost him money if that president loses. This is not to say that all such people think like this, but that a mentality so distorted exists, and is even prevalent in our nation. In some ways, it is the American dream, but it is also the American nightmare, and I severely doubt that another four years will change this trend. We need to make that choice for those who aren't counting on the lottery ticket, and even for those who somehow believe that they'll get it.
