Something nagged me for awhile, and after a conversation on CalPundit today I went and did the research. Across the board, conservatives or GOPers with blogs are uninterested in hearing other people's opinions. Check this out.
Let's look at some politically-active blogs.
Presidential candidates' official weblogs: Dean, Edwards, and Kerry's official blogs allow public comments. GWBush's official blog does NOT.
Parties' official weblogs: www.democrats.org/blog allows public comments, www.rnc.org/blog does NOT.
2003 Wizbang Blog Awards nominees: 19 of 20 nominees for "best liberal blog" allow comments. Only #4, Talking Points Memo, does not. However, the three top winners of the "best conservative blog" -- #1 Hewitt, #2 Sullivan, #3 InstaPundit -- do NOT allow comments.
Of course no one is required to allow comments, and I'm sure those that don't all have their reasons. The point is, there's a consistent trend. Democrats and liberals are interested in hearing others' opinions, while conservatives and Republicans are not.
If you're interested, I put more details, some analysis, and a public challenge to America's conservatives on my blog.
