These were the words of GWB in March 200
2, spoken during a meeting Condoleeza Rice had with three Senators on Iraq, according to
this TIME article (publishing date: March 24th, 200
3).
Now Rice, trying to quell the growing suspicions about the war decisionmaking timeline because of Bob Woodward's new book
"Plan of Attack",
challenges the account given by Woodward (note to the NYT: "Refute" carries the implicit meaning that the account given is true, i.e. corroborated by other facts; it is therefore
not to be used to describe a statement just challenging another account. Yeah, I know the journalist in the byline has no influence over the headline writers. Nice way to try to sway opinion without backing the story up with facts, while at the same time escaping responsibility. It's all the fault of the NYT headline writer gnomes. Fuck you.), saying that Bush only reached the decision in March 2003, not January 2003 as described by Woodward.
How does that jive with the TIME story?
