I can't help but feel further estranged from the Kerry campaign over this issue, even if it wasn't Kerry's decision and he can't be "bothered". I'm disgusted by the lack of courage and tolerance for political risk throughout the Democratic party, and Kerry is no exception. He's a politician. Dean's biggest flaw may have been that he was too raw, but I think that's what I liked the most about him.
I was moved enough to donate to Jeff Seemann's campaign, which may actually be my first political contribution. Our representatives need to be encouraged for standing up for what they -- and we, as their constituency -- believe in, not for being strategic "politicians". And by that I don't mean a belief in death, but in free speech and one's willingness to fight for others' ability to voice their opinions without fear of disenfranchisement. Kerry and his campaign's various maneuvers make me want to gag. I'll vote for him anyway, because I'm loyally ABB, but I won't pretend to be happy with the options or the status quo. My only hope is that future candidates asking for my support take some of this to heart.
