It's time to stop pretending. The right-wing is always accusing us of being unpatriotic, of hating America, and invariably we respond by denying the obvious : we do hate America. Why deny the obvious? We're not running for office. Okay, I won't presume to speak for all of you, but quite frankly I'm tired of waving the flag and playing patriotic make believe, even as I find so much about this country so loathsome. So without further delay, here is a partial list of all the things I hate about America :
I hate George Bush. I hate the Republican Party. I hate Christian fundamentalists. In fact, I hate religion generally, and I find just about anyone who genuinely believes in almost anything to be a complete moron. I hate Fox News. I hate Rush Limbaugh. I hate Sean Hannity. I hate Tom Friedman. I hate wussy Democrats. I hate the Gap. I hate khakis generally. I hate suburban banality. I hate the middle class. I hate the upper class. I hate malls. I hate quaint small towns. I hate Ivy League assholes. I hate pretentious hipsters. I hate fajitas. I hate Utah. I hate Mel Gibson. I hate AOL. I hate work. I hate microwave ovens. I hate I hate I hate.
Get the picture? Now slime me (but just please spare me the love-it-or-leave-it line. I said I hated work didn't I? That should tell you I'm too lazy to leave).
